File Bits – what's the difference and how to choose the best one for the job?

An electric filer is a necessary tool in every nail salon. E-filer has a number of advantages. First of all, it shortens the time spent on manicures and pedicures. It can be used on a dry cuticle so there is no need to soften them beforehand. In skilful hands, this method is faster, safer and more hygienic than traditional file and nippers.

With an e-filer, the only thing you have to do is to change the file bits. Bits are the main part of a file, they touch the nail plate. Different types of bits are for different tasks and will help us achieve a different result. There is a massive number of file bits available on the market but the most important criteria is the quality. Bits should be made from a safe and durable material, which can be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised fast.

Indigo has a number of file bits in its offer, varying in shape, purpose and gradation. They are made from the highest quality materials which are reliable and durable. Indigo file bits are an investment for years.

Indigo File Bit I, II and III

They are made for taking off hybrid polish or colour gels, and are called a “hybrid eraser” by our team. Thanks to its rounded tip it can remove nail designs placed close to the cuticle area without damaging the constructed nail. The ergonomic shape allows fast work on a nail plate without overheating it. Working with those bits is very easy and safe, they are perfect for beginners. They are made from cemented carbide and have a cylinder-like shape and are available in three different gradations.

Indigo File Bits Style 1 and 2

The most powerful File Bits on the Polish market. They are made for filing down gel and acrylic mass. A special double groove takes off the mass twice as fast compared to usual file bits. Indigo file bits are covered with a special Infinity Life coating, which guarantees durability and strength. File Bits won't grind down and will serve as well after a month as on the first day. They are well made - the file handle doesn't shake and heat up, so the client stays safe and comfortable. Disinfecting liquids won't damage the surface. It can be used for filing down calloused skin (pedicure). It will work on dry and wet skin. This file bit is great for people used to working with an e-file. It guarantees reliability and comfort.

Tip: After each use, the Style file bit should be brushed to remove any deposits and then submerged in disinfecting liquid. It will be ready to use in just a few seconds. Maintenance is a very important part in working with tools.

File Bit Indigo Cuticle No.5

A universal and reliable bit made from cemented carbide which will do a great job with removing gel or hybrid manicures, shaping or smoothing out the bottom part of the nail. The shape of a cone with crossed notches allows for precision when working near the cuticle area.

File Bit Indigo Cuticle No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4

Four file bits dedicated for combined manicures. They are perfect for filing down dead and calloused skin and a precise work near the cuticle area. Available in 4 shapes: no.1 (teardrop), no.2 (peak) and no. 3 - 0.8 mm, no. 4 – 1mm (needles)

How to take care of file bits?

There are couple of factors to remember that might influence the durability of your bits and make them rust:

  • An incorrect way of disinfecting and sterilising bits.
  • Soaking tools in disinfecting liquids for too long.
  • An incorrect concentration of disinfecting liquids.
  • A constant use of “freshly” prepared disinfecting liquids.
  • Sterilising wet file bits in high temperatures without drying them first.
  • Incorrect temperature during sterilization.
  • Incorrect time of sterilisation.
  • Using tap water in a steam autoclave.
  • Impure water in a steam autoclave.
  • An incorrect way to store tools.
